Heres my review from VH1 when green day was on

It started out talking about how Billie was a little kid and lived in a sucky town called
rodeo. He was middle class. Talked about his mom and dad. Billie started playing
guitar when he was 8 he tried copying the cords of the hard rock music he heard. Said
how his dad got cancer and he died. When he was in fifth grade he meet mike. Then
they talked a little about mike when he was little. And how he had 75 detentions which
was the most in his school. They both where in punk rock music. Billie hated school
he felt it was holding him back from playing music. So they formed Sweet Children.
There friends told them about a place called Gilman Street where punk rock bands
can play. So they went there and the people thought they weren't punk enough. So
one day when Billie was high he wrote how about how he felt and called it green day.
People liked that name so they stuck with it. They started becoming more punk and
the made there first album 1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours with lookout. Then
there drummer left so they needed a new one. They got Tre and said how Tre insulted
everyone and he did all these drugs and Billie loved him so they let him play the drums.
Later they went out on there first us tour. When they where in Minnesota Billie saw a
girl (adrienne) with long black dreadlocks. They started talking adrienne wanted to
now where she could get a 7 in so she gave his number to Billie. And Billie called here
and there conversations started getting longer. Adrienne was taking a human sexuality
class at that time so they talked a lot about that, Billie though it was cool talking to a
21 year old about that (he was 18 at that time). So they started going back to
Minnesota a lot to play. Billie and Adrienne kissed and that's when Billie wrote the
song 2,000 light years away. Then they made there second cd kerplunk. Soon Billie
asked adrienne to come move out to california with him and a month later they got
married in Billie Joe's back yard. The next day adrienne took a pregnancy test and
found out she was pregnant. They were both very excited. Soon record companies
started asking green day to sign with them and green day didn't now what to do, cuz if
you were a true punk band u would never sign a major record contract or u would be
considered "sold out." But they didn't give a fuck what anyone thought so the signed to
reprise. And they really liked rob they had a lot in common about music. So that's
when they made there 3rd cd Dookie. They went out on a huge us tour in there book
mobile and everyone loved them and the fans started getting younger and younger. But
the fans back home at gilman street hated green day cuz there were considered "sold
out". One night Billie snuck in to gilman street with his friend who had a key and drank
and they went into the girls bathroom and saw that someone wrote on the wall "Billie
most die." Billie didn't now what to think of that. That's when they went to play at
wood stock. Billie was talking about how people started throwing mud at them so
they said fuck this and they started throwing it back. And they where throwing it,
eating it and diving in it. Soon people started going up on stage and a security guy
thought mike was a fan and so he pushed mike to the ground and mike hit his jaw on
the security guys shoulder and knocked out 2 of his teeth. Mike said "dude im in the
band" the security guys was just like oh yeah u guys rock i love u guys. After that
concert everyone went out and bought the dookie cd and they ended up selling 10
million copies. The media started saying how green day sold themselves out. And
green day started getting really pissed so that's when they made there 4th cd
Insomniac. It was a lot harder punk then they have done. They went out on tour after
that cd came out. And they didn't feel like playing anymore they thought "what's the
point" So they cut that tour short. That's when they made there 5th cd Nimrod. And
made the song "time of your life" and Billie joe said about the song time of your life
"this is going to really bizarre but huge" And they went on tour for that cd and
everyone loved it. But green day was starting to miss there families. So after that tour
they decided to take a break or split up and not talk to each other for awhile. Billie
Joe started to feel useless out at home cuz he has 2 kids now and was on tour during
both pregnacys. And his dad died when he was 10 so he didn't want his kids growing
up with him always gone. Adrienne talked about how it was really hard to be a dad
and be in a band at the same time. Everyone thought that green day had split up but 3
years later the made there 6th cd Warning. It was a lot more "grown up" then there
other cds but Billie joe said "I don't wanna be some 40 year old guy trying to act like a
kid and my wife doesn't want me to be like that or do my kids" Mike and Tre were
saying that they don't care what anyone thinks cuz they made 6 good cds that they
made and recorded and they kicked ass. Even though there growing up they are not
taking it slow. Billie was saying now when we go on tour are families are coming with
us. The show ended with some guy saying "I hope u had the time of your life"

I really did reviews and pictures from the Pop Disaster Tour so please send them to me at warningbilliejoe@yahoo.com   On this page I'll include reviews of the shows I've seen by this band, both recently and in years past. I'll also include reviews that others send me.

June,17th at roywilkins in minnesota

I went to see green on June 17th at roywilkins.
I got to roywilkins around 600.When i got there i bought a green day shirt. And then
just hung around for an hour. Then around 7 we went and sat in are seats and stole a
green day sign hanging up.I really wanted floor but yeah i probally would of died
so.Then at 800 the living end came out and played for an half hour. They were ok i
didnt really know them. Then they set up the stage for green day that took like an hour.
so around 900 green day finally came out. Billie joe was so hot he wore his black and
blue striped shirt with his black pants. They sang "nice guys finish last"Then they sang
these songs "hitchen a ride" "church on sunday" "longview" "when i come around" "geek stink breath" "2000 light years away" Billie joe started talking how your going to wanna make love in the parking lot and
how your going to have a big fucking orgasim. He made everyone do the hey ho like
50 times.then they sang "knowledge" by operation ivy they had 3 people come play
the drums bass and guitar. the frist drummer sucked so they had someone else play.
then they all did a stage dive off. They played "basket case" "she" "waiting" "minority"
"castaway" "brain stew" "welcome to paradise" "jaded" "platypus" "warning" "kind for a day" "good riddance" then they inished off by play "macys day parade" It was the best concert and it was the best
damn night of my life. Then the buses were parked out front we waited around for and
hour and they finally came out waved to everyone and they left.I will never froget that
night although i really wish i could of have gotten green days autograph but oh well

Okay so right away let me just cut straight to the set list for Green Day:

All by myself (Tre!!)
Dominated Love Slave (Tre again!!)

She
King for a Day
Waiting

Encore:
Ballad of Wihelm Fink (Billie by himself)
Time of your Life
Warning (Sounded AWESOME !)
Platypus (i hate you)
When i come around
Macy's Day Parade

All right I hope that Green Day never play Hammerstein Ballroom again only
because there are mezz seats which SUCKKSSS!! I guess because I was forced to
get Mezz seats when they where all sold out! Anyway..Around 7:30 they let
everyone in, and on 8 on the dot The Living End started and played Pictures
in the mirror, roll on, revolution regained, All torn down, prisoner of
society, dirty man, hellbound and second solution. Then Green Day came out
half an hour later! They went through the set list with Billie splashing
everyone with his water bottles and super soakers! Then they had asked
everyone what they wanted to hear he said songs like Haushinka and stuff but
then he said if we wanted to hear dominated love slave! So Tre got off his
drums and took the guitar..right as soon as he was about to play Billie came
over and whispered something to him and then Tre started playing All by
myself!! While tre was singing dominated love slave Billie played on the
drums! Around some verse in Basket case I think Billie started calling kids
up to play. They got one guy from the crowd to play the drums and he worked
out..Then they got this guy to play Bass but he was acting like and ass so
they threw him off and got Another guy from the crowd. Then Billie asked who
wanted to play guitar so the lights when out and Billie took this security
dudes flashlight and with it flashed it onto this guy in the Mezz section and
asked if he could play. The dude said he could but Bile said "okay but you're
gunna have to jump off the Mezz section and into the crowd and crowd surf all
the way to the stage and play." And the kid did it!! LOL but he was a sissy
and didn't jump but got lowered down to the crowd. So then they played Basket
case! During King for a day Jason white took over the guitar and Billie went
around with his red king has running around singing on stage!! After Waiting
they all left, then Billie came back out by himself under the spot light and
starts singing
The Ballad of Wihelm Fink! Then everyone joins him for time of your life and
down the set list they go. Till they finish When I come around and Tre goes
nuts throwing his kit all around while this one dude from backstage gets 3
pieces of his kit fixes them in the front. Mike had to retrieve his bass from
the wreckage off the drums and they played Macy's Day Parade! And that was
it!!! The Concert ended at 11:30 so After not being able to hear anything for
3 hours on the train ride home..hee hee....it was over!!

ast night was, without a doubt, the greatest night of my life. If
anyone else was at the Irvine show, then U know that it kicked some major
ass. I got there about 6:50 and waited in line for about 10 minutes with
my brother and my best friend. When we walked into the Bren Center my
first reaction was "Damn, where are they hiding the rest of the venue!?"

It was so intimate and cozy that I couldn't imagine I'd really be seeing
Green Day in person here. Much to my surprise the pit still wasn't full
and the three of us scored spots way up front near the gate separating
the stage from the pit. We waited twenty or so minutes for the concert to
start expecting nothing less than the best night of our lives.

Finally the lights dimmed and the spotlights focused on the stage. A
huge roar went though the venue. Next thing u know The Living End is
taking their places on stage. There was a minor malfunction with Chris
Cheney's guitar, but Scott Owen and Travis Demsey kept on playing while
the mistake was corrected which didn't take long. Then they started their
set. It was amazing to be right under and right in front of two huge sets
of speakers. I could feel every bone in my body vibrate. It was amazing
to see Chris Cheney so close up, especially when he decided to play his
guitar with a bottle of Heinekin. While not too many people were familiar
with the opening band, they still did and adequate job of pumping the
crowd up in preparation for Green Day.

After The Living End's thirty minute set, the lights came back on, the
roadies cleared the stage, and a curtain was moved to reveal Tre Cool's
drum set. Before long, the lights dimmed once more. This time the roar
was deafening. By this time the pit had become full. Then after month's
of anticipation on my part, Green Day walked on stage, each member taking
his spot behind his designated instrument. Immediately the band launched
into "Nice Guys Finish Last" and I could only sing along happily amongst
a mass of bodies. The one line, "I'm so fucking happy I could cry...." in
the song described what I was feeling perfectly.

Due to the small size of both me and my best friend, we decided it would
be to our best interest if we left the pit, by the time "Nice Guys Finish
Last" was over. We headed to some seats to the left of the stage eight
next to the pit and with the help of some friendly fellow Green Day fans,
managed to hoist ourselves up on the seats, being careful not to obstruct
the view of anyone else. Although Tre Cool and his drum set were hidden
from our sight due to the large speakers, we had prime view of both
Billie Joe and Mike Dirnt. We happily sang along to every song played
including "J.A.R", "King for a Day", "She", "Brainstew/Jaded", "Good
Riddance", and "Minority".

While on stage Billie Joe had the crowd mesmorized. He conducted the
audience similar to one would conduct a grand orchestra. He managed to
form a band, refresh the audience with a water gun, dance like he was
crazy, get the audience to chant/sing what he wanted them to, all while
providing us with top quality entertainment. Sadly though, every good
thing must come to an end. So with the closing number, "Warning", the
crowd sang along knowing that although the night was coming to an end, it
was a not one they'd soon forget.

As for myself, I can honestly say that this was the most amazing thing I
have experienced in my short life. After nine long years of waiting this
was and always will be the best night of my life. If I were to die
tomorrow, I could die happily knowing that I was bestowed the honor of
seeing Green Day in concert before I died. I only hope that someday I
will get that chance to again.

Everyone remembers their first concert. For our
parents it might have been Led Zeppelin, YES, Janis
Joplin, Stevie Wonder or the Rolling Stones. Our
favorite artists now may have seen U2 or KISS when they
were young. I clearly remember my first concert: in 1997
my friend, my sister, my Dad, and I all piled into the
car for a drive to the Asbury Park convention center for
Green Day's stop on the Nimrod Tour. We were
quintessential dorks, little ugly 11-year olds who
claimed that their favorite band "rocks, man!". We did
not know what Green Day was all about, just that they
were "awesome". It would take a little longer for us to
embrace and understand Green Day's punk roots, but,
nevertheless, we were still in for the best concert I
have ever seen, and, as far as I am concerned, the best
concert I will ever see.
After the long drive we arrived in Asbury Park, NJ,
which was once a lively and popular beach town. Now it
looked completely deserted and we nicknamed it the "ghost
town". This stayed its nickname until we saw equipment
vans, tour buses, and a HUGE line wrapping around the
convention center, an old-fashioned concert hall. We
found our place at the end of the seething mass and
waited, still trying to grasp that we would really being
seeing the 3 dirty-mouthed 25-year-olds that we so adored
within the night. Soon a torrential downpour began and
we stood, soaking wet and not the slightest bit
perturbed, for another two hours or so. Everyone was
cold, uncomfortable and undeniably WET, but no one really
seemed to care at all because they were waiting to see
Green Day. We talked to the people squished into the
space around us - a pleasant mix of the usual group of
disturbed teenagers and a few hardcore punks with 10 nose
rings each and foot high Mohawks consisting of 6 green
peaks. The wait went by quickly and by the time we were
in the convention center we had already purchased
t-shirts, patches, etc..
The opening act, Samiam, was so bad that I was
embarrassed for them. Well maybe bad is a little harsh,
but they were certainly far too loud. I could've sworn
that there were 5 guitarists up there. There were only
2, of course, but every song sounded like static being
pumped through the amps at 500 decibles and I couldn't
even decipher their popular single that had been
receiving lots of radio air-play recently throughout the
discordance. It was, in a word, painful, and my friend
and I were nearly bursting for Green Day.
Samiam's hour set seemed to last for five hours
and finally my heroes filed on, along with a horn
section, and revealed the huge Nimrod banner hanging
behind the drum set. No sooner than we were pushing
ourselves through the mass of humanity had Green Day
begun their set. They played Nice Guys Finish Last,
Hitchin' A Ride, and The Grouch, and I'm sure I wasn't
the only one in the crowd who thought they were going to
perform the entire length of Nimrod. However, as the 2
minutes or so of The Grouch came to a close, they
surprised us and launched right into a set of antiques
such as Knowledge, 2000 Light Years Away and Going to
Pasalacqua. They sent the crowd into a fit but it this
was only the beginning.
After we thought it could get no better, Green
Day continued into a mix of Dookie, Insomniac,
1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours, Kerplunk and Nimrod.
They played all of the favorites and all of the classics,
along with songs no one was really expecting them to
play. The whole time I was bouncing up and down, trying
to see over all of the heads in front of me, a barrier
about a foot taller than myself. I kept my eyes focused
on Billie Joe's red tie or Tre's bright green spikes.
Soon I got up close enough to catch all of the action:
Billie Joe invited a guy with long hair who looked about
17 onto the stage to help him out with When I Come
Around. After asking his name, Billie Joe handed him the
guitar and he proceeded to play the first few bars of the
song. After his 3 minutes of fame was up, Billie Joe
arranged a stage dive for him into the screaming crowd.
The climax of the show came when Billie Joe
waltzed over to the horn section and said a few words to
them as the crowd waited anxiously. As soon as he had
returned to the mic they launched into King For A Day.
Upon finishing the lines "King for a day , princess by
dawn. King for a day in a leather thong", Billie Joe
ripped off his pants, threw them aside, and pranced
around the stage in a pair of cherry red panties. The
crowd went ballistic, and Billie Joe hammed it up,
shaking his booty and making quite a fashion statement in
his work shirt, tie, converse hi-tops, and underwear.
All the meanwhile I wondered if he meant for his tie to
match his underwear, and if his little son Joey, who was
bask stage at the time, was watching this hilarious
affair.
The rest of the concert flew along far too
quickly and before we knew it, Green Day's set was
winding down. Well, the time was winding down, but their
energy was not. They kept the show moving at lightning
speed even through their last five minutes. No one would
have known that they were under the incredible pressure
that touring requires, they were just having a great time
and to say the least, they made everyone in that crowd
happy. For $25 I got the best concert I have ever seen
and one of the best stories I have to tell. If Green Day
tickets are available to you, be forewarned that they put
one of the best shows ever, even compared to the seasoned
veterans. Even my Dad, whose musical tastes consist of
folk music and nothing but, said "Wow. They sure know
how to entertain."

I may also include a map to an upcoming show.
